Belgian Cookies |
This is a recipe from my Mother-in-Law which had been passed down to her through the generations. It uses cookie cutters which you can find at any kitchenware store, dollar store or second-hand store.
The buttery cookies are filled with jam and decorated with icing. This is a family favourite recipe and fun to make with the kids.

Belgian Cookies
Makes 18 cookies
1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup icing sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon milk
Pinch of salt
Icing:
2-3 tablespoons milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325° F.
Cream together butter and sugar with a mixer. Add cornstarch and flour. Slowly add milk, salt, and mix well.
Roll out dough on a floured board to 1/4-inch-thick and cut into desired shapes. Bake until dry and dull looking, about 12 to 15 minutes.
For the icing, mix together the icing sugar and milk until it is a little runny. Spread a thin layer of icing over the top of each cookie, as desired.
