Once we know the basics, then we can cook with confidence. The more one cooks, the better they’ll get. |Ingredients for Mac and Cheese|
Serve with a big green salad and carrot sticks
2 cups dry elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
¼ cup onion, chopped fine
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1 ½ cups Cheddar Cheese, grated
½ cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
pepper to taste
½ cup bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook macaroni in a pot of boiling salted water until al dente (cook as per box instructions). Drain and rinse, place in a casserole dish. In a small saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and sauté until tender about 6 minutes. Stir in flour and salt to form a paste. Whisk in milk in a steady stream and stir until thickens, about 10 minutes. Add cheeses and stir until melted. Season with pepper. Stir cheese sauce into macaroni. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top. Bake for 30 minutes or until heated through.
